Looking for a lifetime opportunity to create an important brand? See below.

Fellow designers,
I am very well aware that you've all heard of HUMAN RIGHTS. But have you heard that there's a competition where your aim is to create the very first globally recognized logo for human rights? Yes there is. Below is the link where you will (not should) apply. I believe this is the ultimate test for any designer, old or young, successful or a student, man or a woman. Give your best shot at it.

Human rights logo

The prices are also amazing - 5 000€ for the first place, 3000€ for the runner up and 1000€ for the third place. But above all, a satisfaction that you took part in this great project.

A couple of tips first:
- You maybe know some stuff about human rights, but it's always a good idea to learn more. You can't create a great brand without knowing everything and anything about it. So go check out this website about more info on human rights: More on human rights
- Don't submit your logo the moment you think it's finished. You have enough time to sleep over the logo. Print it out, make a quick animation of it, use it anywhere and see if it works for you, but also on other people. Dream about this logo.
- Think about the importance of this logo. This symbol, brand or whatever you want to call it will be someone's hope somewhere. It should be filled with positive attitude and a good healthy vibe.

Good luck to you all!

... by nature itself. Nothing can have more perfection and imperfection in balance; such color harmonies; such precision and beauty. Terje Sorgjerd really proves my point. He easily makes you believe everything is not just possible but also achievable. Have that in mind next time you get stuck. . .

Enjoy the epic video he made:

Belgrade Design Week

Well as an attendant in the last year's BDW, I strongly recommend you to visit it if you can. It starts on 23rd of May, in Belgrade, Serbia. A lot of great speakers - people who shape and define today's design. The conference is organized in a superb manner, with so much new to hear and learn. You can find more info right here: Belgrade Design Week. As far as I'm concerned I don't think I'll make it this year unfortunately, but then again, who knows what time will bring upon us, right?

Status, 08/05/11

Well it's been a loooong long day. I've been working on this latest animation for about 20h in the last two days. Yup, lifeless, and pretty much bummed. But, I'm not giving up on it. About 1:40s of it has been done. Thirty seconds more to go. I guess I have to finish it in the morning asap so I can polish it all up by mid afternoon. That is the final deadline. Hope I deliver it good, and in time.

Fingers crossed.

"Can it be done in two days?" - a classic client question.

As most of the designers in the world, I get asked this over and over again. So, when's the right moment for you to accept or decline such an offer? Money? Fame? Portfolio? What motivates you to work in such conditions?
Today, I got asked to do an animated film (more than 2 minutes in length) for an organization here in Montenegro. The price is ridiculous as in low to the floor. They don't have a budget to support this kind of video, but. . .
I did accept. Why?

1) Challenge.
- It's been a while since I've been under this kind of pressure. Sure, there were times where those 30s commercials had to be done within the week. But two minutes, in two days? Never. I believe it's time to show myself and them that it will be done as requested.
2) Portfolio.
- As a young designer I'm aware that diplomas and kind words of family will never get you the best clients and campaigns. Portfolio is what matters to all of us. I'm willing to work 15h or more per day to get my portfolio pumped up. However I'll never publish something that the client doesn't like or has not requested to be done.

What's the project?

An animated infomercial for a nonprofit organization about an Enterpreneurs conference in Podgorica, Montenegro. It's basically an animated typography with a bit of illustrations. I'll work in Adobe's After Effects and Illustrator. My plan is to finish the rough outlines of the animation (layouts of the text etc) today, and then animate it tomorrow.

More words soon!

Get inspired!

Throughout the years, it has been said that an artist works only if inspired. If the inspiration doesn't "come" suddenly, the artists gets a creative block. The blockage, well, we've all been through it; can block your creative and technical flow only if you allow it. If you surrender to the lack of motivation you will get blocked. So, how does an artist get inspired?

For me, it was always in the nature, people, emotions, thoughts, etc. Someone gets pumped up when it rains, while others get depressed and inert. In order to avoid getting inert you should always bare in mind that you control your "inspiration". In the following post/video you should see how light can really light up the sparkle of that motivation. This is a true gem of light painting in 21st century. Enjoy and of course:
